It looks like the Olympic Mens Hoop Team finally won a game that means something. They beat a 5-0 Spanish team behind a defensive effort and 31 points from Marbury. That is all good and fine, but lets look between the lines. Marbury will fall back to Earth and the other teams will find a way to at least negate some of the defensive pressure that the U.S. was finally able to apply.
If the U.S. has a breakout performane from a player each game them they will win the gold, but if the shoot like thay cant hit the broadside of a barn then they will lose out. I dont care what the players say, ANYTHING LESS THAN GOLD IS NO GOOD.
There are some college teams out there that would compete way better than this poorly put together squad. It isn't the ref's, the zone, or the food, it is the players and they don't mesh very well. The only thing that will salvage this is a gold, but it is already tarnished.
